Reaction Steps
1.7 g of [6-hydroxy-2-[4-(n-butylsulfonoyl)-phenyl]benzo[b]-thien-3-yl]-[4-[2-(1-piperidinyl)ethoxy]phenyl]methanone (2.86 mmol) was dissolved in ethyl acetate and a saturated solution of hydrogen chloride-diethyl ether was added. A thick white precipitate formed. The liquid was decanted off. The remaining solid was triturated with diethyl ether (2×) and dried to afford 1.57 g of the title compound as a white amorphous powder.
