Procedure
2-Chloro-5,6-dihydro-N,N-dipropyl-4H-imidazo(4,5,1-ij)quinolin-5-amine was refluxed in acetic acid for 1 hour. The solvent was removed and the residue was partitioned between ethyl acetate and sodium hydroxide solution. Evaporation of the ethyl acetate afforded 5-(dipropylamino)-5,6-dihydro-4H-imidazo(4,5,1-ij)quinoline-2(1H)-one.
