Using the procedure of example 122, (E)-3-[2-hydroxy-6-(6-hydroxy-1-hexynyl)phenyl]-2-propenoic acid methyl ester (example 176) was alkylated with methyl 9-bromononanoate giving the title compound, in 71% yield, as a colorless oil.
