To a solution of 2-fluorophenethylalcohol (25.0 g) in triethylamine (37.5 ml) and methylene chloride (250 ml) was added dropwise methanesulfonyl chloride (16.7 ml) under ice-cooling, and the mixture was stirred for 30 min. The reaction mixture was warmed to room temperature, washed with water and saturated brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and concentrated to give 2-(2-fluorophenyl)ethyl methanesulfonate.
