7-(5-Methyl-isoxazol-3-yl)-1,2,4,5-tetrahydro-benzo[d]azepine-3-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (1.9 g, 5.8 mmol) was treated with ethanol (20 ml) followed by a saturated ethanolic hydrochloride solution (20 ml). The mixture was stirred for 12 h until a precipitate was observed. Diethyl ether (100 ml) was added and the precipitate filtered and dried in vacuo to give the title compound as a colourless solid (1.25 g, 81%).
