4-[4-Methyl-5-(2-methyl-quinolin-6-yl)-4H-[1,2,4]triazol-3-yl]-butyraldehyde (76 mg, 0.25 mmol) and 7-(5-Methyl-isoxazol-3-yl)-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-benzo[d]azepine (55 mg, 0.24 mmol) were stirred at room temperature in dichloromethane (5 ml) for 30 min. Sodium triacetoxyborohydride (55 mg, 0.26 mmol) was then added and the mixture stirred over the weekend. The mixture was diluted with dichloromethane (50 ml) and washed with saturated sodium bicarbonate solution (30 ml). The aqueous was extracted with further dichloromethane (50 ml) and the combined organic portions were dried (Na2SO4), filtered and evaporated to give the desired compound as an off-white solid (26 mg).
