Procedure
29.9 mg of methyl 3-(1-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-3,5-dimethyl-1Hpyrazol-4-yl)propanoate was dissolved in 0.6 ml of methanol, and to the mixture was added 0.29 ml of 1N-sodium hydroxide and stirred at room temperature for 3.5 hours. To the reaction mixture was added 20 ml of water, neutralized with 1N-hydrochloric acid, and extracted with 20 ml of ethyl acetate. After the organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure to yield 7.5 mg of the title compound.
