Procedure

100 mg of methyl 4-(3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-3-hydroxybenzene carboxylate was dissolved in 1 ml of methanol, and 1.6 ml of 1N-sodium hydroxide was added at room temperature and stirred for 3.5 hours. To the reaction mixture, 20 ml of water was added, neutralized with 1N-hydrochloric acid, and extracted with 20 ml of ethyl acetate. After the organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure to yield 40.8 mg of the title compound.
