Reaction Steps
150 mg of 4-chloro-5-ethyl-2-nitrophenol was dissolved in 1.5 ml of dichloromethane, and 156 μl of triethylamine and 69 μl of methanesulfonylchloride were added at room temperature and stirred for 30 minutes. To the reaction mixture was added 50 ml of water, and extracted with 60 ml of ethyl acetate. After the organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure to yield 200.7 mg of the title compound.
