A solution of 5-bromo-4,6-difluoro-1H-indole-3-carbaldehyde (150 mg, 0.58 mmol) and 2-[4-(5,5-dimethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborinan-2-yl)phenoxy]ethanol (158 mg, 0.64 mmol) in toluene (5 mL) and EtOH (1.6 mL) was added to a solution of potassium carbonate (240 mg, 1.74 mmol) in water (1.2 mL) and Pd(dppf)Cl2 (24 mg, 0.029 mmol) at room temperature under N2. TLC (petroleum ether/EtOAc=1:1) showed the reaction was complete. The reaction was cooled to room temperature, and extracted with ethyl acetate (20 mL×2). The organic layers were washed with brine (10 mL), dried over sodium sulfate, concentrated in vacuo, and purified by column chromatography to give the title compound (70 mg, 38%) as a yellow solid.
