In a liquid mixture comprising 200 ml of ethanol and 200 ml of toluene was dissolved 42 g of the 4-(2-(4-n-propylphenyl)ethenyl)cyclohexanone mentioned above, 4 g of palladium/carbon (5%) was added as catalyst, and they were subjected to a catalytic reduction in hydrogen gas atmosphere. After finishing of the reaction, the catalyst was filtered off and the solvent was distilled off under a reduced pressure to obtain 39.8 g of 4-(2-(4-n-propylphenyl)ethyl)cyclohexanone.
