A solution of 1-acetoxy-1,3-butadiene (0.1 mol), triphenylsilane (0.1 mol), and Rh2Cl2 (CO)4 (194.5 mg, 0.625 mol) in 100 mL of toluene was stirred at room temperature under argon for 3 days. The reaction mixture is treated with decolorizing charcoal, and the mixture boiled briefly. After cooling, the reaction mixture is filtered through Celite. Concentration of the solution will afford the title compound.
