Procedure
A mixture of 6.0 g of 7-(3-methylphenyl) pyrazolo(1,5-a)pyrimidine-3-carboxamide (Example 13) and 15 ml of N,N-dimethylformamide dimethyl acetal is heated on a steam bath for 4 hours to give a solution. The solution is evaporated in vacuo to give a solid. The solid is recrystallized twice from dichloromethane-hexane to give 4.70 g of the desired product as colorless crystals, mp 165°-166° C.
