Procedure
A mixture of 10.0 g of 7-(3-pyridinyl)pyrazolo(1,5-a)pyrimidine-3-carboxamide (prepared as described in Example 9) and 50.0 ml of N,N-dimethylacetamide dimethyl acetal are heated at 120° C. for 2 hours. After cooling, the reaction mixture is evaporated in vacuo to give an oil. The oil is triturated with diethyl ether to separate a yellow solid. The solid is collected by filtration, washed with ether, air dried, then dried in vacuo to give 12.37 g of the desired product as a tan solid, mp 124°-127° C.
