The 1,2,2-trichloro-2,2-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylic acid (3.0 g) synthesized in Example k and thionyl chloride (1.0 ml) were mixed, and reacted at 60° C. The reaction mixture was distilled under reduced pressure to give the desired 1,2,2-trichloro-3,3-dimethylcyclopropanecarboxylic acid chloride (2.8 g) represented by the following formula. ##STR26##
