In dry dichloromethane (20 ml) was dissolved 3-[1-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)amino-1-cyclopropyl]methyl-1-[1-(R)-phenylethyl]pyrrolidine (1.234 g, 3.582 mmol). Under ice cooling, benzyl chloroformate (1278 μl, 8.955 mmol) was added thereto. After stirring at room temperature for 8 hours, the reaction solution was concentrated under reduced pressure. The resulting residue was subjected to flash silica gel chromatography to obtain the title compound (959 mg, 71.5%) as a colorless oil from the fraction eluted with n-hexane/ethyl acetate=2/1.
