Procedure

To a solution of (2-Amino-5-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-(5-chloro-2-methoxy-phenyl)-methanone (IV)(14.13 g, 42.9 mmol, 1 eq) in Dichloromethane (120 mL) at 0° C. was added pyridine (4.65 mL, 57.5 mmol, 1.34 eq), then Bromoacetyl bromide (4.98 mL, 57.2 mmol, 1.33 eq). After 3 h, the reaction was quenched with Sodium bicarbonate (aq) and extracted three times into Dichloromethane. The combined organic layers were dried over Magnesium sulfate, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The product was used without further purification. 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ 12.18 (s, 1H), 8.88 (d, J=8.9 Hz, 1H), 7.82 (dd, J=1.9, 8.9 Hz, 1H), 7.71 (d, J=1.9 Hz, 1H), 7.51 (dd, J=2.6, 8.9 Hz, 1H), 7.41 (d, J=2.6 Hz, 1H), 6.97 (d, J=8.9 Hz, 1H), 4.08 (s, 2H), 3.70 (s, 3H).
