Procedure
To a solution of 4-(3-(2-(benzylsulfanyl)-1H-imidazol-4-yl)phenyl)-1-hexanoyl-3,4-dimethylpiperidine (Preparation 41, 101 mg, 0.21 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (2 mL) at 0° C. was added lithium aluminium hydride (1.0 M solution in tetrahydrofuran, 0.32 mL, 0.32 mmol) dropwise over a few minutes. The solution was stirred at room temperature under a nitrogen atmosphere for 1 h and then cooled back to 0° C. The reaction was cautiously quenched by the addition of 1 N sodium hydroxide (0.5 mL) and then ethyl acetate (10 mL) and solid sodium hydrogen-carbonate (excess) were added. The mixture was stirred vigorously for 30 minutes and then filtered through Celite®, washing with ethyl acetate. The filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound as a clear oil (98 mg, 100%).
