A mixture of 0.288 g (0.0643 mmol) of 1-(tert-butyl) 4-ethyl 4-({[4-(2-butynyloxy) phenyl]sulfanyl}methyl)-1,4-piperidinedicarboxylate, 3.25 mL of 1N NaOH 3.25 mL of THF and 3.25 mL of MeOH was heated to reflux for 3 h. The organics were removed and the residue was diluted with H2O, acidified and extracted with EtOAC. The organics were washed with H2O, brine, dried over mgSO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo to provide 0.241 g (89%) of the desired product as an off white gum. Electrospray Mass Spec: 464.3 (M+FA−H)+.
