Procedure
A solution of 0.88 g of 2-chloro-5-(2-chloro-ethyl)thiophene in 10 ml of acetonitrile is treated with 1.3 g of 1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1-piperidin-4-yl-ethanol, hydrochloride and 0.82 g of NaHCO3 and stirred at 80° for 8 hours. After customary working-up, 1.3 g of 1-{1-[2-(5-chlorothiophen-2-yl)ethyl]piperidin-4-yl}-1-(4-fluorophenyl)ethanol are obtained. The residue is dissolved in acetone, treated with ether/HCl and the hydrochloride, m.p. 210-211°, is obtained after crystallization.
