A mixture of 27.7 g of the product of Step D, 150 ml of dioxane and 65 ml of 2 N sodium hydroxide was refluxed for 2 hours and the mixture was cooled for crystallization of a sodium salt. The mixture was vacuum filtered and the recovered product was rinsed with a 1-1 ether-dioxane mixture and dried to obtain 16.85 g of raw sodium 2-(2-tritylamino-4-thiazolyl)-2-(1-methylethoxyimino)-acetate.
