Reaction Steps

To a methanol solution of 2.03 g (4.9 mmol) of 5-octylidene-3-[4-(imidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-8-yloxy)butyl]thiazolidine-2,4-dione, 1.25 ml of 4N hydrochloric acid-ethyl acetate was added, followed by stirring. After the solvent was distilled off, the residue was washed with ether to yield 1.71 g (77.2%, white solid) of the desired product.
