Procedure
26 g of 4-(2-fluorophenyl)-1-tetralone oxime are added to 130 g of polyphosphoric acid pre-heated to 125°. The solution obtained is stirred at 125° for 30 minutes, cooled, mixed with ice and water and extracted with chloroform. After evaporation of the organic phase, the residue is crystallized from ethanol. There is obtained 5-(2-fluorophenyl)-1,3,4,5-tetrahydro-2H-1-benzazepin-2-one of melting point 210°-212°.
