Reaction Steps
Following a procedure similar to that described in Example 11(d), 400 mg of (2S, 3S)-2-(3-fluoro-4-methoxyphenyl)-2,3-dihydro-3-hydroxy- 8-phenoxy-1,5-benzothiazepin-4(5H)-one [prepared as described in step (c) aboVe] were alkylated with 2-dimethylaminoethyl chloride hydrochloride to afford 500 mg of the title compound as a syrup.
