Procedure
Solid tert-butyl N-(3-((acetimidoyl)aminomethyl)benzyl)carbamate (3.0 g, 9.6 mmol) was suspended into 150 ml anhydrous dioxane. 4N Hydrochloric acid in dioxane solution (20 ml) was added at 20° C. The mixture was stirred for 24 hours at 20° C. After diluting with 200 ml ether, the white solids were collected by filtration and dried under vacuum at 100° C. to yield 2.34 g (98%) of N-(3-(aminomethyl)benzyl)-acetamidine. 1H NMR (200 MHz, D2O) δ 7.52-7.35 (m, 4H), 4.49 (s, 2H), 4.16 (s, 2H), 2.25 (s, 3H). Mass Spectrum (CI) 177.9 (MH+, 100%).
