1-Benzyl-4-[N-ethyl-N-(3-isopropyl-2-pyridinyl)amino]methylpiperidine (EXAMPLE 178, 1.82 g, 4.97 mmol) and platinum hydroxide on carbon (675 mg) in 30 ml ethanol is hydrogenated at 40 p.s.i. hydrogen for 48 hrs. Filtration and evaporation of the solvent gives the title compound, NMR (300 MHz, CD3OD) 7.56, 6.97, 3.60, 2.94, 2.44, 1.69, 1.48, 1.20, 1.10 and 0.99δ.
