Compound B (61.3 g) and 0.05M H2PtCl6, 0.04 mole percent of a chloroplantinic acid/ethyl acetate solution was stirred and heated at 50° to 60° while the 134 g of compound A was added over 45 minutes. The mixture was kept at 60° C. for an additional hour to yield 1-(octadecyl methylchlorosilyl)-2-(octyl methylchlorosilyl) ethane (compound C), as a pale-yellow oil. The analysis calculated for this product (C30H64Cl2Si2): C, 65.28; H, 11.69%. Elemental analysis showed: C, 65.80; H, 11.56%.
