Procedure
3.8 g of 9-ethyl-3-isothiocyanatocarbazole was reacted with 1.1 g of acetylhydrazine in 30 ml of tetrahydrofuran at 60° C. for 2 hours. Then, 10 ml of methanol was added thereto and crystallization was conducted while cooling with ice. Crystals thus precipitated were collected by filtration, and recrystallized from CHCl3 /CH3OH (70 ml/200 ml) to obtain 2.4 g of the desired end compound. m.p. 197°-199° C.
