Procedure
A mixture composed of 2.57 g (13 mmol) of the nitrile obtained in Step 3, 120 ml of CH3OH, 2 g of Raney nickel and 50 ml of a solution of NH3 in CH3OH (7N) is hydrogenated under a pressure of one atmosphere for 16 hours. After filtration over Celite, the solution is concentrated and the residue is chromatographed on silica, eluting with a mixture of CH2Cl2 /CH3OH/NH4OH conc.=90/10/1, to yield the expected compound in the form of a colourless oil.
