Prepared according to the method described in Example 1(g) above from (R)-Nω,Nω '-bis(Cbz)-N2 -(diphenylacetyl)-(S)-N-(1-phenylethyl)arginine amide (0.6 g; 0.8 mmol; from step (d) above), 10% Pd/C (w/w; 200 mg), HOAc (25 mL), overnight reaction time. The crude acetate salt was converted to the hydrochloride to give 0.4 g (99%) of the title compound as a solid.
