N-Methyl-N-((1R)-1-(N-methyl-N-phenethylcarbamoyl)-2-(2-naphthyl)ethyl)carbamic acid tert-butylester (1.84 g, 4.12 mmol) was dissolved in dichloromethane (6 ml). The solution was cooled to 0° C. Trifluoroacetic acid (6 ml) was added. The solution was stirred for 10 min at 0° C. The solvent was removed in vacuo at 20° C. The residue was dissolved in dichloromethane (100 ml) and the solvent was removed in vacuo. This latter procedure was repeated two times. The crude product was purified by flash chromatography on silica (70 g), using dichloromethane/methanol/25% aqueous ammonia (100:10:1) as eluent, to give 350 mg of (2R)-2-(methylamino)-3-(2-naphthyl)propionic acid N-methyl-N-phenethylamide.
