N-Methyl-N-[1-(3-methyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl)-2-(2-naphtyl)ethyl]carbamic acid tertbutyl ester (3.3 g, 9.0 mmol) was dissolved in a saturated solution of hydrogen chloride in ethyl acetate (75 mL). After 3 hours at 20° C. the reaction mixture was filtered to give 1.52 g of (R) N-methyl-N-{1-(3-methyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl)-2-(2-naphthyl)ethyl}amine hydrochloride.
