To a solution of 1,3,4,5-tetrahydro-6-acetoxy-2H-1-benzazepin-2-thione (235 mg, 1.0 mmol) in 25 mL of CH2Cl2 was added at 0° 295 mg (2.0 mmol) of trimethyloxonium tetrafluoroborate. After stirring at room temperature for about 30 min. water was added and the CH2Cl2 layer was separated. Drying over Na2SO4 and removal of the solvent gave 229 mg of 4,5-dihydro-6-acetoxy-2-methylthio-3H-benzazepine.
