A solution of 2-[(2-methoxyethyl)sulfonyl]benzenesulfonyl isocyanate (1.7 g, 0.0057 mol) in dichloromethane (10 ml) was added to 2-amino-4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine (0.70 g, 0.0045 mol) and DABCO (catalytic amount); the mixture was stirred at room temperature under nitrogen overnight. Filtration gave N-[(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yl)aminocarbonyl]-2-[(2-methoxyethyl)sulfonyl]benzenesulfonamide (1.43 g) as a white powder, m.p. 187°-192°.
