Procedure
The precursor 4-(4-chlorophenyl)-N-(1-methylethyl)-4-oxo-2-butenamide (7A) was prepared by the procedure shown in the previous examples by treating 1A with ethylchloroformate and triethylamine in toluene at 0°, then adding at 0° a solution of isopropylamine in toluene. 7A was obtained as a solid, m.p.: 162°-163°. It was converted to 7 by treatment with hydrogen perioxide, by the procedure described in Example 1, 7 being obtained as a solid, m.p.: 128-129°.
