Procedure
A solution containing 4.2 g of the compound obtained in Stage C, in 25 ml of tetrahydrofuran is added dropwise at room temperature to a suspension, stirred under a nitrogen atmosphere, of 1.1 g of lithium aluminum hydride in 25 ml of tetrahydrofuran. Stirring is main-tained for 20 minutes after the addition is complete, and the reaction medium is then hydrolyzed with the requisite quantity of water saturated with ammonium chloride. The precipitate formed is filtered off and washed with tetrahydrofuran, and the filtrates are concentrated under vacuum to yield an oil.
