The title compound may be prepared by dissolving 6-butyl-2-methyl-5-[(2'-(N-triphenylmethyltetrazol-5-yl)biphen-4-yl)methyl]pyrimidin-4(3H)-one in methanol and adding excess concentrated HCl and stirring for 10-30 minutes. An indicator quantity of phenolphthalein is added followed by 10% NaOH solution until pink. Excess acetic acid is added and the mixture is extracted three times with ether. The combined organic material is dried over MgSO4, stripped of solvent in vacuo, and MPLC'd to give the title compound.
