Procedure
2 g of L-phenylalanine was dissolved in 30 ml of 50% acetic acid, and high pressure hydrogenation was conducted (hydrogen pressure: 50 kg/cm2, 40°-70° C., two hours) by an addition of 200 mg of platinum oxide. The catalyst was removed by filtration, and the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure to obtain 2.2 g of L-cyclohexylalanine as colorless needles.
