In 10ml of ethanol was dissolved 0.342 g of 3-amino-4,5-diethoxycarbonyl-6-(imidazol-1-yl)-2-phenylpyridine, and 0.5 ml of hydrazine monohydrate was added to the solution. The mixture was heated under reflux for 7 hours. After the reaction mixture was concentrated, the residue was acidified with acetic acid. The resulting precipitate was collected with. filtration and washed with water, followed by reprecipitation from DMF/H2O, to give 0.2 g of the title compound as yellow powder.
