Procedure
A solution of 370 mg of [2-(3-methyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl)-ethyl]-trityl-amine and 190 mg of p-toluenesulfonic acid in 10 ml of ethanol was heated to 60° C. for 2 hours. The solvent was evaporated and the residue was triturated with diethylether/hexane to give 2-(3-methyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl)ethylamine p-toluenesulfonate as white crystals of m.p. 122°-123° C.
