Procedure
To a stirred solution of 5-amino-3-cyano-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenyl)-4-trimethylsilylethynylpyrazole (2.0 g, crude from example 2) in methanol (30 ml) was added potassium carbonate (1 g). After 10 minutes at room temperature the reaction mixture was partitioned between ether (100 ml) and water (100 ml). The organic layer was separated, washed with brine (100 ml), dried (MgSO4) and evaporated. The residue was purified by column chromatography on silica gel eluted with dichloromethane followed by recrystallisation from ether to provide the title compound as a white solid, m.p. 215-216° C.
