To a stirred solution of 5-amino-3-cyano-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethoxyphenyl)-4-trimethylsilylethynylpyrazole (0.4657 g) in dichloromethane (5 ml) cooled in an ice-water bath was slowly added tetra-n-butylamntmonium fluoride (1.07 ml of a 1M solution in tetrahydrofuran). After five minutes the ice-water bath was removed. Stirring was continued for ten minutes then the reaction mixture was washed with water. The aqueous layer was washed with dichloromethane. The combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried (Na2SO4) and evaporated to provide the title compound as an oily solid which upon drying in an oven crystallised to a white solid, m.p. 175.7-176.1° C.
