5-fluoro-2-methylindene-3-acetic acid (see Example 1, Part D) is allowed to react with 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzaldehyde according to the procedure of Example 1, part E to obtain (Z)-5-fluoro-2-methyl-1-(3,4,5-trimethoxybenzylidene)-3-indenylacetic acid. C22H21FO5 : 384.40; m.p. 168° C.
