Procedure
A mixture of 0.36 g of 4amino-2-chloro6,7-dimethoxyquinazoline, 1.08 g of (S)-N-tert-butyl-2-piperazinecarboxamide bis-(1S)-(+)-10-camphorsulfonate, prepared as described in U.S. Pat. No. 5,700,364, and 0.94 ml of diisopropylethylamine in 10 ml of isoamyl alcohol was heated at reflux for 9 h. After cooling to room temperature, the solvent was evaporated in vacuo and 50 ml of dichloromethane was added to the residue. The mixture was washed with water (3×20 ml), 5% aqueous Na2CO3 (30 ml), water (3×20 ml), dried (Na2SO4) and evaporated to dryness. The residue was purified by flash chromatography eluting with chloroform:2N methanolic ammonia 100:3 to give 0.173 g (30%) of the desired compound.
