Procedure
The reaction was performed in standard glassware under an atmosphere of N2. To 100 ml of diethylether were added 8.0 g (0.82 mol) propiolic acid ethyl ester, 12.8 g (0.82 mol) 3,7-dimethyl-oct-6-en1-ol and 8.3 g (0.82 mol) N-methylmorpholine. This solution was kept without stirring at room temperature for 24 hours. The mixture was evaporated under vacuum and the residue purified by bulb to bulb distillation (bp: 70-75° C.; 0.006 mbar) to yield 19.4 g (76%) of an oil.
