Procedure
After 146 mg (3.34 mmol) of 55% sodium hydride were washed with hexane, it was suspended in 18 ml of dimethyl sulfoxide, followed by stirring of the resulting suspension at 55° C. for 2 hours. The mixture was cooled to room temperature and 1.26 g (3.34 mmol) of methoxymethyltriphenylphosphonium chloride were added to the mixture. Further, a solution in which 426 mg (1.67 mmol) of 4-[(4-chlorobenzyl)thio]cyclohexanone were dissolved in 5 ml of dimethyl sulfoxide was added to the resulting mixture. Water was added to the mixture and the resulting mixture was extracted with toluene. After the extract was dried, the crude product obtained by evaporation of the solvent was subjected to column chromatography using 20 g of silica gel and eluted with a mixed solvent of methylene chloridehexane (1:4) to obtain 370 mg (yield: 78%) of the title compound as an oil.
