6-Iodo-1H-indazole (1.00 g, 4.10 mmol) was reacted with trimethylsilyl acetylene (0.61 mL, 4.30 mmol) in analogy to GP8a to give 675 mg (77%) of pure 6-(trimethylsilyl)ethynyl-1H-indazole.
