Procedure

250 g of methyl E-2-methoxyimino-2-[(2-methylphenyloxymethyl)-phenyl]acetate were suspended in 1 1 of 40% strength aqueous methylamine solution, and the suspension was heated for 4 hours at 40° C. After the mixture had been cooled to room temperature (20° C.), the solid was filtered off with suction, washed repeatedly with water and dried at 50° C. This gave 229.8 g of the title compound as colorless crystals.
