To N-BOC-piperazine (0.373 g) in DMF (10 ml) was added HATU (1.14 g) followed by 2-phenylpropionic acid (0.30 ml) and the reaction stirred at RT for 16 h followed by 60° C. for 1 h. The reaction was cooled to RT, then diluted with diethyl ether, washed with water (×3), 2M HCl (×2), saturated aq. NaHCO3 (aq) (×2), dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated in vacuo to give the sub-titled compound (0.25 g).
