12.3 g (57 mmol) of 3-(6-oxo-1,6-dihydropyridazin-3-yl)benzoic acid are dissolved in 240 ml of methanol, and 30 ml of thionyl chloride are added. The reaction mixture is stirred at 70° C. for 24 h. The reaction solution is evaporated, and the residue is digested with diethyl ether, and the residue is dried in vacuo.
